Chipping the web – heavy

Gabrielle’s top 10 lessons for bloggers.

Steve Yegge masterfully breaks Gabrielle’s fourth rule, simultaneously spinning an allegory of project management disaster.

Speaking of spinning disasters, here’s how to remove scratches from DVDs and CDs.  Man, I could have used that a few times in the past — instead of cursing, throwing them violently into the trash bin, and heading to Amazon.com.

I wish I had thought of this — a converter from partial-text to full-text feeds.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to work with FeedBurner feeds, but I was able to convert a couple of my favorite partials to full text.  I hope Tom will open-source this script so we can figure out what’s up with FeedBurner (thanks, Kent).

Hi Sterling, and thanks for the link. I’m glad you like the script, and I do hope to open-source it eventually. I’m just hesitant, for the reasons I outline in the post.

I’m surprised to hear that it’s not working with Feedburner, though — I use it successfully with a number of FB-hosted feeds. I suspect it’s the feeds themselves that are the problem (for some the algorithm just can’t succeed). I’d like to try to fix whatever problems you’re having though, if possible. Do you think you could email me some examples of feeds that aren’t working for you? My address is tom (at) echoditto (dot) com.

Thanks!
