Chipping the web – math social

Chipping the webA right angle measures 90 degrees.

Chinese writing may be 8,000 years old, which would make it thousands of years older than its Sumerian and Egyptian counterparts (thanks, Jason).

Speaking of writing, here’s how to Twitter from Skype.  I must be all Chalcolithic pictographs, because I don’t use either service.

Apotheon responded to my tag on the Web 2.0 meme.  No love there for Twitter, either.  I also like reddit – and I would use it more if it didn’t keep screwing up my login.

Gabrielle dug up the ages of the founders of various Web 2.0 services.  Now I feel old enough to be using cuneiform.

Diogenes links the archives of his Fine Art of Blogging series of guest posts, to which I submitted one tablet.

Back to writing in pictures, the most excellent xkcd does it again – but I smile to think that both “grok” and The Who more properly belong to the previous generation.

Peopleized is an online service where people interview other people.  I noticed that Ilker gets cred for the logo.  Here’s an interview with Kiltak where he lists Chip’s Quips among his top three reads, along with Lifehacker and John Chow.  Wow!  Thanks, Kiltak!

OperaMaster Idea Note uses my tag cloud widget — in Japanese.  Domo arrigato!  So does Russian Media Industry News — in English.  Thanks, or Spasiba (whichever you prefer)!

  1. You must be the first person to notice that I’ve designed the logo for Peopleized. Thanks for the mention! =)

In spite of the criticisms you received, I think it’s a great logo, ilker.

Oops, Aki — it looks like they added password security to the site. I guess it’s no longer public.
