Chipping the webIf you don’t know why 42 is the answer, you need to have your geek glands examined. But have you found the question?

I don’t mind belonging to that group — thanks, Doug!

Don’t forget to nominate me your favorites for the Bloggies! (thanks, TAN)

Congratulations to apotheon (aka Chad Perrin, and one of my Bloggies nominees): In Second Life’s Developers’ FAQ about open sourcing their client, Linden Labs links to this article by Chad as part of their response to the question: “How can you prevent malicious programmers from finding flaws in the code to exploit security problems?” If you’re a developer and you aren’t reading apotheon’s blog, you should be.

Assaf pointed me to a simple answer for the global warming problem. V8 moment.

Another possible solution: proactive employee turnover .

Seriously, though.

Betcha can’t do it. I can, but only very slowly.

The “Wow” starts … ? More black eyes for Vista. Is this a countdown or a time bomb? (thanks, Randy)

Also from Randy: achieving success as a spammer may not require much technical expertise, but a little bit of it might help to avoid losing it all.

I definitely want to make sure Randy gets his share of link-love.

Staying on track: six tips for building better Web apps with Rails.

Give me that ol’ time religion: Godchecker.com has a database “of over 3,400 Gods, Goddesses, Spirits, Demons and Saints!” (thanks, Stu). Hey, my search for Bill Gates turned up no results, and he’s supposed to be in at least three of those categories.

I’m with you there, Randy. Well, not exactly “with” you.

[...] There’s a sort of weblog popularity contest going on. It’s “the Bloggies”, meant to be something like the Emmies or Oscars for weblogs. Of course, there’s no Academy of the Arts for weblogs, so it’s just sort of an open popularity contest, as I said: the general public makes all the nominations and does all the voting. I probably wouldn’t ever have noticed the thing if it wasn’t for the fact that Sterling mentioned that he nominated me in a few categories. [...]
