A new type of trackback spam?

August 3rd, 2006 4:09:54 pm pst by Sterling Camden

Today I have been getting trackbacks to several different sites that merely echo and link back to my content, with one other link to another site in another language (Japanese, I think). Like this:

mysterytrackback

No ads. No link farm. No explanation. What is this?

One of the URL’s is http://herbertgreen49201.decorative-outdoor-lighting.info/archives/A-sparkling-vision-o.php (link omitted intentionally). If you remove the “herbertgreen49201.” from the domain name and navigate there, you will find a page full of links to each of the post pages.

linkfarm

I’m betting that there is some page in this labyrinth that contains a link farm filled with links to paying customers’ sites — or that there will be soon. Then all this linkage would be a heavily disguised scheme to drive up the Google juice for the domain name, which would in turn juice all of the link farm members. Sneaky.
