A birthday surprise
October 22nd, 2012 11:07:57 am pst by Sterling CamdenToday when I opened my browser, xombrero, and navigated to google.com, I saw the following doodle:
“What a fitting coincidence,” I thought, “since today is my birthday. I wonder whose birthday they’re really celebrating?”
When I hovered my mouse over the image to see its title text, I jumped out of my chair.
Of course I soon realized that since I was logged into my Google account, Google knew who I was and that today is my birthday. Still, it sort of gave me the creeps. One step closer to this.

Thanks, Andreas! Yeah, I suppose Google already “knows” that chilis are one of my loves — but they haven’t gotten quite that intimate with the doodle (yet). On a related note, I’m often shocked by the people that LinkedIn recommends as contacts — frequently I have no clue as to how they know that I know that person.
A friend of mine posted suggestions Facebook had given him. All four were my friends although admittedly one of them was his girlfriend so why they suggested that one I don’t know
