January 12th, 2006 1:17:20 am pst by Sterling CamdenRather than taking the time to write my own blogging software, I decided to use a freeware package called Marko’s microBlog. So far, so good. It seems to have everything I need, for now. I like the way the RSS feed gives the full text of each entry, retaining the original formatting, and converting URL’s to text prefixed by “URL:”. Please let me know in the comments if you experience any difficulties or have suggestions. Of course, that wouldn’t work for telling me about problems posting comments. In that case, just e-mail me.

Oops. Problem report number 1. I pasted the Greek "mu" character into the title and the text, and it got translated into "μ" — but wasn’t redisplayed properly. Probably some setup feature I need to tweak. I’ll let you know.
Yup, sadly you can’t paste that character directly.
Marko, thanks for responding. Is there a way to encode the character into the text so it will be rendered correctly?
OK — Marko gave me a fix. I needed to set encoding to UTF-8 in the header file for the style. Good work, Marko! Nice support, and for free. My favorite kind. I’m still a fan.
