We eat ham, and jam and Spam a lot

Apotheon deflated my hopes of stemming the tide of SPAM comments ( or “spomments” ) by switching to WordPress. I have heard a lot of good things about the Akismet anti-spam technology they use, but apparently a lot of spomments are getting by this anyway, because now apotheon is requiring that you register on his site before submitting comments.
I can’t blame him. I’ve been fighting off the spomments for what seems like a long while now. Yesterday I had nearly 100 come in. So, I’ve reluctantly turned on CAPTCHA for comments on this blog.
Please feel free to comment (if you are a person and not a script). I love to hear from readers. Please feel free to link to your own site, as I have not gotten around to adding your URL as a field in your comment identity. But please don’t send me any more SPAM. I’m choking on it already.

It’s only a model.
Sorry, your laconism eluded my attempts at discernment. Come again?
I was just engaging in a little random Monty Python quoting. I apologize for the confusion.
I got that post about blog spam posted at SOB, by the way. Hopefully this gets through your spam filtering.
Oh, right — I think my brain’s been underpowered lately.
I’ll check out your post. BTW, did you have any trouble with the CAPTCHA? TDavid couldn’t read it, which thwarted a comment.
