I wonder if I’ll come up with a security angle on the Google de-beta-izing in time for a Tuesday article. If not, I’ll probably use something I wrote last month on Tuesday, instead.
In concept, I’m happy with the idea of Chrome being out of Beta. In practice, I’m unhappy that they declared it “finished” (in some sense) before there were versions for OSes other than MS Windows, and uneasy with the implications of their decision to declare it “finished” when it hasn’t undergone more extensive security testing.
Yes, declaring a product “out of beta” doesn’t make it complete. This seems to me to be more of a ploy to generate wider acceptance than a true statement of product maturity.
Alas, I still haven’t come up with any ideas for such an article that would carry it past about two paragraphs. It looks like I’m going to be using a previously written article for this Tuesday, and leaving all the pontificating over Google’s move with Chrome to others.
Ah well, we can’t write about everything.
