Yeah, Joe. My Dad, who was of course your age, told me about when he was a teenager he and his buddy Harley would take one of the huge watermelons from Harley’s father’s farm down to the market where they would sell it for 50 cents, which would pay for both of them at the movies. Now if you go the theater and have a drink and popcorn you’re dropping thirty bucks easy for two.

I remember during my elementary school days, walking on Saturdays mornings to the local movie theater–about a mile from home–with a quarter in my pocket. With that quarter, I got to see all the serials–like The Lone Ranger, Tarzan, Hopalong Cassidy, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers; Sgt Preston and his wonder dog, King…along with newsreels from WW2–and I also had enough left from the quarter after buying the movie ticket to buy a drink and Popcorn!
